ChatGPT regurgitates trained data in bizarre quirk

Computer researchers have discovered that ChatGPT can recall snippets of text memorised from its training data when prompted to repeat a single word continuously. The researchers found that the chatbot generates the same word multiple times before it starts generating seemingly random text. However, some of the passages generated during this process appear to have been lifted from published content. The researchers hope that their findings will encourage responsible model deployment in the future.
