Meta could receive large fine over Instagrams children's privacy violations

Meta is at risk of receiving a significant monetary penalty from the Irish Data Protection Commission following an investigation into Instagram over violations related to the processing of children's data. Six European data protection authorities have refused to support the penalties proposed by the DPC against Instagram. Furthermore, the European Data Protection Board said it had received formal notification representing the first step in triggering the dispute resolution mechanism.
