The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) has arrested four individuals suspected of involvement in recent cyberattacks targeting Marks & Spencers, the Co-op, and Harrods. The arrests, made at their homes this morning, include two young men (aged 17 and 19) from the West Midlands, a 19-year-old man from London, and a 20-year-old woman from Staffordshire. The NCA confirmed that the four individuals are believed to be connected to all three retail attacks.
In a statement, Paul Foster, Head of National Cyber Crime Unit at the NCA, said: "Today's arrests are a significant step in that investigation but our work continues, alongside partners in the UK and overseas, to ensure those responsible are identified and brought to justice."
Additional reporting by The Register confirmed that the suspects' identities and specific locations remain undisclosed as they are yet to be charged or convicted. Electronic devices seized during the arrests will now undergo forensic analysis. The suspects remain in custody, facing charges under the Computer Misuse Act, along with alleged offences related to blackmail, money laundering, and participation in organised crime.
