Investigatory Powers Tribunal finds serious privacy failings by MI5

On Monday, the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) handed down a landmark judgement against the UK's MI5 secret services agency after ruling in favour of the latest legal challenge brought by Privacy International and Liberty. The IPT found "very serious failings" in MI5's compliance with legal requirements under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the Investigatory Powers Act 2016 relating to its retention, review and deletion safeguards for personal data from 2014.
