DPC revises preliminary decision to halt Facebook transfers

The Irish Data Protection Commission has reached a preliminary decision potentially suspending Facebook EU-US data transfers. The DPC has given Meta, Facebook's parent company, 28 days to respond to a revised decision before it's presented to members of the European Data Protection Board under Article 60 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. A DPC spokesperson said the decision would likely be filed to supervisory authorities in April. In its response, Meta said, "this is not a final decision" and that the DPC has "asked for further legal submissions," but added, a halt on transfers "would be damaging" to businesses and individuals.
