PI response to DCMS consultation on an Online Advertising Programme

Privacy International has published its detailed response to the government's public consultation on an Online Advertising Programme (OAP). In principle, PI supports the proposal. For a long time, they have been concerned with behavioural advertising and the actions of ad tech companies. However, they point out that if the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was "properly and regularly enforced" in the first instance, additional standards might not even be needed. In their submission PI outline their concerns and provides evidence gathered from comprehensive research and complaints raised with European data protection authorities.
