Group of NGOs call for police to confess to surveillance of journalists

Open Rights Group has joined a group of organisations, including Amnesty International UK, Reporters Without Borders UK, Index on Censorship, and Committee to Protect Journalists, to express their support for journalists Trevor Birney and Barry McCaffrey. Birney and McCaffrey are attending a hearing of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT) in London this week over allegations that they were targeted by UK authorities using covert surveillance. The case is the first of its kind involving UK authorities.
