OECD launches Global Repository for PETs

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has launched its Global Repository for Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to help organisations navigate legal obligations and practical guidance for implementing privacy-preserving tools.
The OECD states that despite PETs reaching technical maturity for real-world deployment, widespread adoption remains constrained by informational, legal, and economic barriers. Organisations often face uncertainty about which regulatory frameworks apply, while policymakers face fragmented cross-border approaches and limited empirical evidence.
Building on its 2023 paper on regulatory and policy approaches to PETs and its 2025 paper on PETs and AI, the OECD will establish a new PET Policy Advisory Board to oversee ongoing development and steer its strategic direction.
