NHS health boards in Scotland up by third since 2018

Information obtained through the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 has revealed that the number of data breaches recorded at Scottish NHS health boards has increased by a third despite efforts to reduce them. Over 6,000 General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) breaches have occurred in the past five years. The number of GDPR breaches has risen from 1,028 in 2018 to 1,354 last year. The data covers 13 of Scotland's 14 regional health boards, with only NHS Forth Valley failing to provide information.
