Gartner: Responsible AI among data science and machine learning top trends

01/08/2023 | Gartner

Research and consulting firm Gartner has revealed its top five predictions surrounding the future of data science and machine learning (DSML). Amidst the rapid growth and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and particularly given the recent interest in generative AI, the focus is shifting from just predictive models towards a more accessible, dynamic and data-centric approach. The top 5 DSML trends include:

  • Cloud Data Ecosystems
  • Edge AI
  • Responsible AI
  • Data-Centric AI
  • Accelerated AI Investment

For responsible AI, Gartner recommends organisations adopt a risk-proportional approach that includes seeking assurances from vendors in order to ensure risks are managed, specifically in terms of compliance obligations, protecting organisations from potential financial loss, legal action and reputational damage.
