The European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) has recommended an independent review of Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) over how it enforces the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The suggestion comes after a delegation of LIBE members visited Ireland for meetings with DPC staff and Big Tech platforms, including Meta, TikTok and Microsoft. Spanish MEP Maite Pagazaurtundúa said there are concerns that the DPC is "a bottleneck of the (GDPR) one-stop-shop mechanism," however they support recommendations from the Irish government to improve the DPC's operations.
