EDPB supports voluntary cookie pledge initiative

In its recent plenary session in December, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) adopted a letter responding to the European Commission regarding the cookie pledge voluntary initiative. The EDPB welcomes the initiative to reduce cookie fatigue and protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of users online. However, the EDPB highlights that adherence to the cookie pledge principles does not necessarily mean compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or ePrivacy Directive.
