EDPB publishes ePrivacy Directive guidelines

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has issued guidelines on the technical scope of Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive. The guidelines clarify the coverage of the Directive and provide legal certainty to data controllers and individuals on technical operations, including new and emerging tracking techniques. The EDPB notes the guidelines do not address consent collection or exemptions. The guidelines are open for public comment until 28 December.
