Cisco signs Vatican responsible AI pledge

On Wednesday, technology company Cisco Systems announced that it has signed a Vatican-sponsored pledge to ensure the ethical development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the benefit of the common good. The pledge was previously signed by Microsoft and IBM in February 2020 before Italy went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emphasising key pillars of ethical and responsible use of AI, the pledge states that AI systems must be designed, used, and regulated to serve and protect the dignity of all human beings and their environments without discrimination.
