EDPB asked to take position on tiered subscription models

Several European data protection authorities, including the Netherlands, Norway, and the German state of Hamburg, have asked the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) to provide a formal stance on the tiered subscription models used by digital platforms for obtaining consent to show personalised advertising under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The EDPB is expected to take a position on the matter within a period of eight weeks.
