Hearing into DPC's Google RTB complaint begins in Irish High Court

27/07/2023 | Breakingnews.ie

A case brought by Dr Johnny Ryan, senior fellow of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL), against the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) has begun in the High Court in Ireland. The DPC rejects claims that it failed to fully investigate a 2018 complaint made by Dr Johnny Ryan about an alleged data breach concerning the operation of Google's Real Time Bidding (RTB) advertising practices. The DPC denies all of Dr Ryan's claims against it and says that it opened an inquiry of its own volition in 2019, which is ongoing. The action is before Mr Justice Garrett Simons, who has reserved his decision after submissions from the parties.
