The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the Cabinet Office have announced a new independent advisory group to oversee the delivery and development of the government's digital ID scheme. Formed by Darren Jones, the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, the panel will meet quarterly to provide external oversight, challenge policy choices, and ensure the system operates inclusively.
Alongside the panel of experts, the government will launch structured monthly engagements with the digital verification and financial services sectors, collaborating with trade organisations to ensure that any industry insights and sectoral knowledge are applied to the ID scheme.
The newly appointed expert board members are former Pearson chief executive John Fallon, Stemettes chief executive Anne-Marie Imafidon, cybersecurity expert David Rogers, digital regulation lawyer Emma Wright, Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts, and the Future Government Institute co-founder Victor Dominello.
