UK government announces Ian Hogarth to lead AI Foundation Model Taskforce

The UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has confirmed that leading tech and artificial intelligence (AI) entrepreneur Ian Hogarth has been appointed to chair the government's AI Foundation Model Taskforce. This taskforce will conduct important AI safety research to ensure the safe and reliable development of Foundation Models while also capitalising on the extraordinary opportunities they present. 

In April, the government pledged an initial £100 million to build 'safe' generative AI.
