The government has published the results of its first survey into how UK businesses use digitised data. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport commissioned the UK Business Data Survey Summary Report to understand the importance of data. The survey looked at several areas, including how businesses handle personal and non-personal data, along with what they use it for. The survey also sought to establish businesses understanding of data protection regulations and the ICO. Finally, the government wanted to understand the flow of data into and out of the UK and the mechanisms used for international data transfers. Both the summary report and detailed findings contain highly interesting information.
