UK and Australia Institutes sign MoU tackling AI security risks

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has announced a partnership between the UK AI Security Institute and the Australian AI Safety Institute to address AI-related risks. Under a new Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutes will monitor developments in frontier AI models to assess how such systems could be used in cyberattacks and how they can enhance defensive cybersecurity capabilities.
The agreement comes as research indicates advances in AI cybersecurity. The UK and Australia agree to share information on AI capabilities, conduct research into emerging threats, and collaborate to establish international best practices for evaluating and testing AI systems to ensure they function as intended.
