UK AI Security Institute launches AI alignment research colalition

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has announced that an international coalition led by the UK AI Security Institute (ASAI) and the Canadian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute has been launched in partnership with Amazon, Anthropic and various civil society organisations. The initiative, which will receive £15 million of funding, aims to expand the global field of AI alignment research, addressing critical issues of AI safety, security, and human oversight. This involves safeguarding citizens by ensuring that AI systems operate predictably, as intended and without unintended consequences.
