NCSC chief writes to small businesses about importance of cybersecurity
24/11/2025 | UK Government
Richard Horne, CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), along with two other ministers, have sent an open letter to SMEs and entrepreneurs, warning that the threat of cyberattacks is growing more intense, frequent, and sophisticated. Recent high-profile incidents demonstrate the reality of this threat, as half of small UK businesses reported an attack in the last 12 months, and 35% of micro businesses suffered phishing attacks.
To support smaller businesses in implementing effective cybersecurity practices, the letter highlights two key, free resources: the Cyber Action Toolkit and Cyber Essentials.
