The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has announced that more than 60 organisations, including Marks & Spencer, have signed a voluntary Cyber Resilience Pledge, formalising their commitment to strengthening internal and supply chain security. Formally launched at 10 Downing Street on 7 July 2026, the pledge responds to increasingly intense, frequent, and sophisticated hostile cyber activity, which is causing significant financial and social harm across the UK.
Signatories commit to three core, time-bound actions:
- Make cybersecurity a board responsibility
- Register for the Early Warning service
- Audit supply chains via the Cyber Essentials Supplier Check Tool
The pledge is part of the National Cyber Action Plan, which will be published later in the summer. The government consulted over 500 businesses and organisations in producing the Plan.
Training Announcement: The BCS Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) is an entry-level programme aligned with ISO/IEC 27001 and Cyber Essentials that examines the fundamental concepts, technologies and principles of information security management.
