TikTok introduces new trust and safety parental controls for teens

30/07/2025 | TikTok

Chinese-owned video-based social media platform TikTok has announced a suite of new features to enhance user safety, privacy, and security. Among these are expanded Family Pairing options, providing parents greater visibility into their teenagers' accounts. Parents will now be automatically notified when their teen posts public content and gain insight into privacy settings, such as content downloads or follower list visibility. They can also see their teen's chosen "Manage Topics" selections.

In addition, TikTok is introducing "Well-being Missions." These include Creator Care Mode for filtering offensive comments, a new bulk mute feature for TikTok LIVE, and Content Check Lite, which allows creators to pre-verify content eligibility for the "For You" feed. A Creator Inbox and Creator Chat Room are also being introduced to help creators manage messages and interact with followers more efficiently.
