In an interview with The Telegraph, Information Commissioner John Edwards discusses the opportunities for the UK to diverge away from EU data protection rules following Brexit. Mr Edwards said that he will "end the era of regulations for regulation's sake" and that he will only enforce regulations only when it benefits individuals. According to the article, he also believes EU data concerns are becoming detached from reality over the row involving Facebook data transfers.
