Is Palantir for the chop under a Burnham-led Labour government?

The Telegraph reports that Andy Burnham is expected to terminate the UK government's relationship with US technology firm Palantir if he succeeds Sir Keir Starmer as prime minister. Burnham, who did not award any contracts to Palantir during his nine years as Greater Manchester mayor, is reviewing the UK's overall artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and is set to move away from a US-centric model to prioritise British businesses and workers instead.

Aides state that Burnham believes unfettered tech boosterism turns off voters, and he intends to prioritise social value in government contracts.

Upon potentially taking office, Burnham must therefore decide whether to cancel Palantir's seven-year, £330 million Federated Data Platform (FDP) contract two years into its NHS deal.
