UK agrees to share police biometric database with US

The UK government has agreed to share UK citizen's biometrics data held by the police with the US. The biometric data-sharing scheme, called the Enhanced Border Security Partnership (EBSP), is intended to increase the ability of the US Department Of Homeland Security to detect threats. A spokesman for the Home Office said: "The UK has a long-standing and close partnership with the USA which includes sharing data for specific purposes. We are in regular discussion with them on new proposals or initiatives to improve public safety and enable legitimate travel."

Three EU member states have also agreed to reintroduce US visa requirements, granting them access to police biometric databases.
