Amazon targets ads using Echo smart speaker conversations

A month ago, researchers at Trinity College Dublin released a report on the data gathering practices of Google Android's Messages and Dialer apps. More recently, researchers at the University of Washington, University of California-Davis, University of California-Irvine, and Northeastern University are claiming Amazon uses voice data to target ads. The report concluded talking to Alexa results in the auction price for related advertising opportunities going up.
