Tech company transparency is important

The efforts that technology companies such as TikTok, YouTube and Facebook go to be transparent have been insufficient, according to Mozilla Vice President of Advocacy Ashley Boyd in an op-ed for The New York Times. Boyd also outlines why these organisations must be forthcoming in areas such as how artificial intelligence is used to the ways targeted advertisements are delivered. "To achieve all this, we must enforce existing regulations, introduce new laws and mobilise a vocal consumer base," Boyd said.
