WH Smith hit by cyber attack, employee data breached

High-street retailer WH Smith has said it has been targeted by a cyber attack resulting in hackers accessing employee personal data. However, the retailer confirmed its website, customer accounts, and customer databases are unaffected as they are on a different system. In a statement, WH Smith said "Upon becoming aware of the incident, we immediately launched an investigation, engaged specialist support services and implemented our incident response plans, which included notifying the relevant authorities."
