TikTok and its ties to China

The Guardian has posted a detailed article on the concerns over TikTok's data harvesting and transfer practices. Collecting data on its users is standard practice for social media platforms. Owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok generates the same fears we have about social media and adds concerns over China's political ambitions. Considerring that TikTok has more than a billion users, it's understandable that regulators and politicians are worried about the amount of data TikTok collects and if Chinese authorities have access to it.
