LNER confirms customer personal data accessed in third-party supplier cyberattack

The train operator LNER has announced that a cyberattack on a third-party supplier has resulted in the unauthorised access of passenger contact details and journey records. LNER confirmed that no bank or password information was compromised and that the breach has not affected its schedules or ticket sales, with trains running as normal. The company stated it is treating the matter with the "highest priority" and is working closely with experts and the supplier to investigate. LNER has advised customers to be cautious of unsolicited communications, especially those asking for personal information, and said there is no need to inform their banks about the incident.
