ICO to investigate use of WhatsApp to conduct government business

The ICO has confirmed that it will look into the private use of WhatsApp and other messaging applications or personal email accounts to conduct government business. This comes after Labour wrote to the information commissioner after it emerged that Lord Bethell had replaced his mobile phone before it could be searched concerning contracts worth £85m for Covid tests that are subject to a legal challenge.
