Guardian ransomware attack compromised UK employee data

The Guadian has confirmed that the self-reported ransomware attack in December did result in the personal data of the newspaper's UK staff being compromised during the incident; however, its international employee data is not believed to have been accessed. The incident was described as a "highly sophisticated cyber-attack involving unauthorised third-party access to parts of our network" most likely initiated by a "phishing" attack.
