Apple introduces lockdown mode to protect against spyware attacks

In response to targeted hacking attacks like those launched by clients using NSO Group's Pegasus spyware, Apple has introduced a new security feature to protect the small number of users at risk from highly targeted spyware attacks. Announced in a blog post, the new feature called Lockdown Mode is a setting that disables several features to shrink the device's attack surface. In a statement, Apple explained that they developed the feature for users who are, "because of who they are or what they do, may be personally targeted by some of the most sophisticated digital threats, such as those from NSO Group and other private companies developing state-sponsored mercenary spyware."
