Zuckerberg claims people without AI glasses will be disadvantaged

In a blog article on personal superintelligence, coinciding with Meta's second-quarter earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reiterated his belief that AI-powered glasses will become the dominant way users interact with artificial intelligence (AI), creating a "significant cognitive disadvantage" for those without them. Zuckerberg stated that glasses offer the ideal form factor for AI, allowing the technology to see, hear, and converse with the user throughout the day.

Zuckerberg suggested that incorporating displays into these glasses, whether for holographic views or smaller everyday eyewear, will unlock further value. Meta has actively pursued smart glasses, such as its successful Ray-Ban Meta and new Oakley Meta lines, which allow users to perform tasks like listening to music, capturing media, and asking Meta AI questions about their surroundings. Revenue from these wearables has reportedly more than tripled year-over-year.
