Running apps make no progress on privacy or security

A study of running applications by UK researchers has identified that many popular apps have not improved security or privacy over the last five years. Researchers said the apps had not implemented basic security measures, like two-factor authentication, to protect health and fitness data. The Strava and Runkeeper apps are configured to share user data publicly by default, while Nike Run Club, Runtastic and MapMyRun share users’ training information with friends or followers.
