Online dating apps Tea and TeaOnHer removed from Apple App Store
22/10/2025 | TechCrunch
Two controversial online dating apps, Tea and TeaOnHer, have been removed from the Apple App Store in all markets. Apple confirmed the removal of the apps, citing failures to meet content-moderation and privacy requirements, as well as an excessive number of user complaints. The complaints included reports of minors' personal information being posted within the apps.
Tea, which went viral after quietly existing since 2023, was marketed as a safety tool for women to share details and "red flag" reviews about men. It suffered a data breach over the summer, exposing 72,000 images, including photo IDs. Its male-focused rival, TeaOnHer, also experienced security issues that exposed users' personal information.
