Irish DPC opens investigation into Facebook data breach

Ireland's Data Protection Commission has announced it is launching an investigation into Facebook's most recent data breach. The investigation will determine whether the company violated the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 after unidentified 'malicious actors' were able to extract the personal data (including email addresses, mobile phone numbers and more) of more than 500 million Facebook accounts.
