EU to scrutinise Google-Fitbit deal over data competition concerns

The European Commission has confirmed that it intends to investigate Google over its planned acquisition of the sports wearables tech company FitBit. The executive commission revealed it was concerned the deal would entrench the Google's position in the online ad market by “increasing the already vast amount of data" the company uses to personalise ads. In other Google news, the Independent reveals the company accidentally enables its Home Smart speakers to listen to everyday sounds.
