Interview with Southport knife attack survivor over NHS data breach

Sky News has conducted an investigation into data protection violations in the NHS. The feature includes a 12-minute interview with Leanne Lucas, a survivor of the Southport knife attack who criticises NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group after staff inappropriately accessed her medical records. The interview highlights that it took 2 years for Lucas to discover her records had been accessed. This is despite NHS officials knowing her files were accessed in 2024 but chose not to disclose the security failure in case it retraumatised her. Lucas discusses the impact on her.
