Signal's new privacy feature protects users' phone numbers

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger alternative, Signal Messenger, has introduced a new phone number privacy setting that enables its users to share a private username instead of their phone numbers when messaging other users. According to Signal, this feature will function as a "quick way to connect without sharing a phone number", and the new usernames will not be searchable through a directory. The move is intended to provide more privacy and security to Signal's users, who are increasingly concerned about their online privacy.
