Germany seeks to stop Facebook's collection of WhatsApp data

Hamburg's Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Germany will bring proceedings against Facebook in Ireland over WhatsApp's new privacy notice. The commissioner has expressed concerns over the provisions in WhatsApp's privacy notice allowing the company to share user data with Facebook. The DPA has initiated proceedings against Facebook in Ireland under Article 66 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The commissioner seeks to reach a decision before 15th May.
