Calls to allow users to sue US technology companies under EU DMA

A group of 31 civil society organisations and academics have called on EU lawmakers and countries to allow individual citizens to sue US technology companies for violating EU rules. The call comes as the EU works to finalise the Digital Markets Act, which would regulate gatekeepers such as Apple, Alphabet's Google, Meta's Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft. "The DMA must enable users, both individually and collectively, to bring enforcement actions for violation of DMA rules before national courts," the group stated in an open letter to EU institutions.
