US needs to pass new laws if it wants EU data-transfer deal

European Commission Vice President Věra Jourová has said the US will need to pass new legislation that limits how its security agencies access Europeans' data before there can be a replacement for the Privacy Shield. The news comes as Politico reports that hopes for passing a national data privacy law are fading fast. In related news, the Danish secret services helped American counterparts eavesdrop on European leaders in 2013.
