European Commission reaches Amazon settlement in DMA precedent

The European Commission has reached a settlement with Amazon that may set the bar for enforcement of the Digital Markets Act. The settlement relates to a case of alleged anti-competitive practices over Amazon's use of non-public seller data. The company disagreed with the commission's findings but has "engaged constructively" in the settlement talks to "preserve our ability to serve European customers." The IAPP recently explored the potential for double enforcement between new European digital laws and the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
