EU looks to fast track certain data privacy cases

EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders has said that the European Commission is looking into ways that it can reach decisions on high profile or time-sensitive data privacy investigations more quickly. Speaking at a summit on AI, Mr Reynolds shared his views that the recent Facebook data leak, which exposed personal data belonging to more than half a billion users, is an example of a case that is taking “maybe too long.” 

Regarding UK adequacy, the Belgium politician said that the EU could suspend its adequacy decision if Britain decided to change its data protection standards.
