The rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies like ChatGPT is undermining negotiations for the proposed EU Artificial Intelligence Act. According to Politico, divided European lawmakers are being forced to reconsider their positions on the proposed legislation. Compromise proposals by Parliament co-rapporteurs Brando Benifei and DragoČ™ Tudorache classing systems like ChatGPT as high risk due to their potential to spread disinformation at scale, were met with scepticism by right-leaning political groups.
