Changes to the legal framework in the EU governing online markets such as the Digital Services Act will transform targeted advertising but may come at a cost to innovation, according to analysis by law firm Pinsent Masons. A balanced approach is needed where transparency and user control over how their personal data is used is key. At the same time, businesses must be allowed "to provide their customers with tailored offers, so-called targeted advertising."
