Since the EU General Data Protection Regulation took effect, the Irish data protection authority has acted as the lead supervisory authority in 969 cross-border cases, of which 588 originated in other member states. In addition, the DPC passed a further 181 complaints on other SAs within the EU. The DPC published a report providing statistics on its handling of cross-border complaints under the GDPR's one-stop-shop mechanism. Ann Henry of Pinsent Masons commented how "this highlights the important role the DPC has in regulating data protection compliance across not just Ireland but the EU more generally."
